AIR TEMPERATURE & RAINFALL DATA
DEC 2007-JAN 2008
Weather data can be a help to naturalists in interpreting field observations. The
graphs below are an attempt to present some data in a simple and easily readable
form. They show the rainfall and outside temperature, with daily maxima and
minima lines, for the last two months. Future editions will continue with graphs for
all of 2008, though no data prior to December 2007 are available.
The weather station concerned, a Davies Weather Wizard iii, is situated in
Boxford, Suffolk at Lat 52° 01’ 40.67” N Long 0° 52’ 11.03” E or OS Ref TL
969404 at an elevation of 40 m. It should be remembered that local features may
well make the weather here different from any locality you may be interested in and
thus should only be taken as an indication of overall weather trends. As the year progresses these graphs will be replaced with graphs on the main weather page all of which will have the same axes and scales.
For those of you who want to delve deeper into the data recorded in Boxford
much more data for the year is available to download as an Excel spreadsheet on the
SNS website at www.sns.org.uk or at www.boxvalley.co.uk - simply follow the links
pointing to weather data page or click here. Details of the extra data contained in the spreadsheet
and the months covered are clearly shown on the page.
