TREE REGENERATION SURVEY
FOR EUROPE
Exotic tree species play a significant role in habitats and landscapes throughout Britain
and Europe. Some are able to form naturalised populations, while others are seldom
seen outside gardens or arboreta. I aim to investigate the role of climate in the
establishment and distribution of exotic trees in Europe. In addition, I hope to investigate
the potential responses of both exotic and native European trees to climate
change.

To this end, I am gathering data on patterns of tree regeneration
success across Europe. Simple information about regeneration success
will be collected from many locations across this large and climatically
varied region. I would like to invite members of Suffolk Naturalists’ Society to participate
in this study by completing a short survey about tree regeneration at any suitable
local site; this could be a woodland, park, arboretum or even your own garden. Eventually
I hope my data will be of use to other researchers in the field, and will complement
existing maps of species’ distributions.

Rebecca has 4 forms to download, there are individual links
to these above.
In case readers are unsure of how to do this here are a few tips:
Click on the link you need, a box will come up asking you to open or save the file.
It's usually best to save the file but make a note of where it is on your computer so you can find it later.
Repeat this for the other 3 files.
You will need Word for Windows to open 3 of the files,
Instructions.doc (32k), Site
Details Sheet.doc (45k) & Tree Regeneration Survey
Sheets.doc (218k)
The Cover Letter explaining
the survey needs Acrobat Reader, which most people may already have on their
computer. Cover Letter.pdf (88k)
If you can't open the letter Acrobat can be downloaded free by clicking on this
