THE SUFFOLK
OXLIP RECORDS PLEASEBIOLOGICAL RECORDS CENTRE Oxlip Primula elatior was selected as the County flower for Suffolk in the recent Plantlife poll. It is a 'near threatened' species which Suffolk has a major responsibility to conserve and is a plant we can be proud to show to visitors to the County. The distribution map shows that many of the records are now well over ten years old. If we are to assess any changes in time to ensure that the species does not move from ‘near threatened’ to threatened we need up-to-date information on as many populations as possible. If you are able to visit sites and record Oxlips (at least presence or absence and at best assess numbers) and send in records this will be of great help. Always get permission from the landowner if the site is not on a public right of way. When making records include the name of the site, a grid reference, the date and your name and send them to SBRC at the address below.
