SNS E-MAIL ADDRESSES

Members have quickly started to use the standard e-mail addresses since they were announced in White Admiral 59. One hidden benefit of this system occurs when there are problems. As most e-mail users will know, a small mistake in spelling the address means the e-mail is returned to you. This can also happen if the recipient's server is down or their mailbox is full and not accepting any more mail.

With our new system returned e-mail is trapped and redirected by the sns.org server. If it contains records then you can be assured that these are forwarded to the Suffolk Biological Records Centre at Ipswich museum. In this way we have a failsafe to ensure that members records are not lost.

Thank you to members who have already used the system. Remember the e-mail addresses for all SNS recorders can always be found at www.white-admiral.co.uk
or at www.sns.org.uk
on the list of SNS Recorders.

Several members have also joined the members mailing list. They received early copies of the field meetings programme - and will, I hope, continue to benefit whenever news items are available to send, but will not be bombarded with mail. You can find out more on the website or join by sending a request to noticeboard@sns.org.uk
