SNS Conference: Please note that there will not be a Conference this October. Following a recent review of our activities it has been decided that the conference will be a biennial item, from now on occurring in odd numbered years. This should enable us to maintain the level of high quality speakers that we have had in the past without overstretching our organisational resources.
At its meeting in May, Council approved two applications for the Morley bursary.
One was for £40 for entomological pins and the other was for £200 towards the cost of a data logger for studying ant lions. We look forward to reading reports in Transactions of the work they will enable.
Over 50 members attended the AGM in April at the Cathedral Centre in Bury St Edmunds.
The meeting was followed by a slide talk by Arthur Rivett, “From the fjords to
the Arctic – a naturalist’s journey through Norway”. The slides were excellent
and the talk was enjoyed immensely by all.
At the AGM: Colin Hawes and Adrian Knowles were elected to serve on Council. Colin was awarded the office of Rivis Vice President. Others already holding this office are: Dr Geoff Heathcote, Mrs Enid Hyde, R.B. Warren and Frances Simpson. (‘Rivis’ - Mrs Rivis was the owner of Rosehill House, the property donated to the SNS in 1958).
Adrian Knowles
volunteered, was appointed, as Programme Secretary.
