GLOW-WORMS

Coming home one night, it was delightful to see a group of glow-worms.
All lit up, and sheltering among the bushes bordering the path.
The name "glow-worm" is given to these little beetles
Because they have phosphorescent organs
On the soft underside of their bellies.
These act like lamps and are used
To attract the sexes to each other.

Seeing the glow-worms was
A lovely experience
But even lovelier tonight is the sight
Of this full harvest moon
Gliding slowly over the great arch of Suffolk sky.
