This 1 km map of Suffolk incorporates all the records received by Colin Hawes and the Suffolk Biological Records Centre during the 1998 national survey for this species.
Map produced by Reg Clarke using 'DMAP' software written by Dr. Alan Morton (Dept. of Pure and Applied Biology, Imperial College, Silwood Park, Ascot, Berks. SL5 7PY).
This map will be updated in 1999 to incorporate all Suffolk records sent to the People's Trust for Endangered Species, co-ordinators of the national survey for this species.
In June and July this year please look out for stag beetles in those areas of the county where they might occur, but where, as yet, there are no records. In particular I would be interested in records from: Assington, Akenham, Battisford, Boxford, Bury St. Edmunds district, Campsey Ash, Clare, Claydon, Earl Soham, Gt. Cornard, Holton St. Mary, Kersey, Little Glemham, Long Melford, Newmarket district, Pettistree, Sudbury, Trimley, Tunstall and Wickham Market.
