Information sheets for different levels of expertise

This section of my site will contain a number of downloads, some in pdf format and some designed as interactive Excel format spreadsheets.

The different downloads will range from sheets to help school children identify creatures in when pond dipping to those designed for experienced naturalists to evaluate the health and conservation value of a freshwater habitat.

Please read the description below then click on the links to download each file and do come back to see if more has been added.

If you download the aquatic species factsheet, perhaps you can identify the freshwater snail in the picture above!

1       Aquatic Species factsheet

This is a factsheet in pdf format (see below) which explains how freshwater life is recorded for the Biological Records Centre in Ipswich and how important it is to record to species level. Identification to species level is not an easy thing but the fact sheet contains illustrations of 16 species which are very easy to distinguish and for which we need more records. It is hoped that ordinary naturalists will be able to send in records for these species.

2       Crayfish Photo Identification sheet

This is a sheet of photos in pdf format (see below) which shows all the key identification features of 3 species of crayfish, the native White Clawed, American Signal and the Turkish.

To read the PDF factsheets you will need Adobe® Reader®. Download it free from:
